Gov. DeSantis seeks to ban CBDCs in Florida, media focuses on political circus
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said all the right things about the tyranny of central bank digital currencies, but the media is more concerned with political theater
Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said all the right things last week when he unveiled a plan to ban central bank digital currencies (CBDC) in his state.
The tone was spot on right from the start with the messaging with CBDCs being called: Big Brother’s Digital Dollar.
The above sign from the DeSantis press conference calls out CBDCs as “just another way of increasing surveillance and control of Americans,” and it states that the bill DeSantis is encouraging the Republican led legislature in Florida to take up would prohibit use of federally sanctioned CBDCS under the Florida Uniform Commercial Code. It would also ban use of foreign CBDCs.
DeSantis also called on a coalition of states fighting ESG (Environmental Social Governance) to also ban CBDCs.
CBDCs threaten personal privacy, economic freedom, local banks, financial technology innovations and access to goods and services by limiting purchases, DeSantis said.
Reclaim the Net reported recently on one of the many problems with CBDCs, that being the ability of the central planners to ban saving with the European central bank already announcing possible plans of negative interest rates through CBDCs. Reclaim the Net reported:
“Negative interest rates allow bureaucrat at central banks to choose a rate at which your money expires and punish those who save their money. For example, if they set a negative interest rate of -10%, you lose 10% of your money each year unless you spend it.”
“The potential scope of these negative interest rates proposals is vast. The euro has around 341 million daily users and is the official currency of 20 Western countries.”
“Governments and globalist institutions such as the World Bank are big fans of expiring money because they see it as a ‘monetary policy tool’ that can ‘make money costly to hold and would thus pressure people to spend it quickly.’”
I’ve written several pieces on the tyranny of CBDCs:
DeSantis hit on the fundamental reason to ban CBDCs, that being the power and control it gives the central planners.
A key line, in my opinion, DeSantis said:
“Ultimately, cash is king. If you can hold it in your hand, you have power over that. The minute it’s all digitized, somebody else is going to have control over that. And it’s just a question of, are they going to let you live your life or are they going to decide to do things to circumvent what you want to do.”
Exactly.
Political Theater Rules the Day
David Knight spoke about the press conference and noted that DeSantis said all the right things, and that this is the right approach. There is no help coming from Washington, D.C. and the two criminal parties. It has to be at the state level, and that’s what DeSantis is trying to do.
But, unless you looked for it yourself, you’d never know that DeSantis even discussed CBDCs. Sure, that’s what the whole press conference was about, but nobody wants to talk about it.
What did they want to talk about? Knight said:
“What you see in the conservative press, they’re demonizing him because… he threw some shade at Trump.”
That’s right. The press, that showed little desire to discuss CBDCs, asked political theater questions, like the alleged Donald Trump indictment and DeSantis’ potential role in extraditing Trump. That’s what “conservative” Town Hall focused on:
And if you listened to DeSantis’ response, he called out the politicization of the New York prosecutor and the fact that they’re ignoring dangerous criminals while going after Trump. But DeSantis also said:
“Look, I don’t know what goes into paying hush money to a porn star, to secure silence over some type of an alleged affair. I can’t speak to that.”
Seriously, that one line is what was picked up across Conservative, Inc. media like The Daily Caller and National Review. Not one single mention about CBDCs, the greatest threat of our time.
Thank You DeSantis, Now Get it Done
This press conference gives us a good example of what our principles should be when dealing with the political class. We should give them kudos when they do the right thing, hold them accountable when they do the wrong thing. Never worship these people, EVER. Don’t do this:
And even when giving them kudos, still hold them accountable. I’ve searched the Florida legislature’s bills, and this bill has not been introduced yet. So, before I go too far in thanking DeSantis, I want to actually read the bill first.
So, Florida residents who desire liberty, desire freedom, should say in one breath, “Thank you Gov. DeSantis for saying the right things and coming out with the right messaging.” In the next breath, they should say, “Now, you better follow through on it.”
While I am happy to see DeSantis saying the right things about CBDCs, he’s also been wrong when it comes to the First Amendment:
There’s also the push to seek state control over homeschoolers:
Then there’s the experimental gene therapy covid jabs that DeSantis knows are killing thousands of Floridians yet refuses to pull from the market:
Note, I described DeSantis in the above piece as probably the best governor on the covid shots, but that’s like being the tallest midget. It’s meaningless.
So, I’ll wait to actually see the bill before I give too much praise to DeSantis on this. But for the time being, it’s nice to actually hear a nationally known politician raising the issue that has been ignored widely by the mainstream and saying all the right things right now.
Prepare for Bad Times Ahead
While I’m writing about currencies, I think it’s a good time to also encourage people to protect themselves from the inevitable collapse of the dollar and the banking industry.
There are many things people should be doing to prepare, but a simple one I think people should be doing is buying at least some gold and silver.
I want to point people to the subscription service from Wise Wolf Gold and Silver Exchange at wolfpack.gold. You can spend anywhere between $50 a month to $1,000 a month and receive a package monthly with gold and/or silver coins.
I’ll note, I have no financial stake in that. But I think the subscription service is such a great idea for people where you don’t have to spend too much (again, as low as $50 a month) to get at least some gold and silver monthly. I’m a customer and just received my first package a couple days ago, and it was certainly a good value for the package I signed up for.
But again, I have no financial stake at Wise Wolf. I just like the subscription concept and wanted to point people to it. However, it doesn’t matter where you find it, but find a trusted gold and silver seller and protect yourself from the turbulent times ahead.
