Local News: Natrona County School Board Votes to Keep Sexually Explicit Books
Gone are the days of debating what is right and wrong, now are the days of moral relativism and pandering to feelings
“The religious purpose of modern schooling was announced clearly by the legendary University of Wisconsin sociologist Edward A. Ross in 1901 in his famous book, Social Control. Your librarian should be able to locate a copy for you without much trouble. In it, Ed Ross wrote these words for his prominent following: ‘Plans are underway to replace community, family, and church with propaganda, education, and mass media…. the State shakes loose from Church, reaches out to School…. People are only little plastic lumps of human dough.’ Social Control revolutionized the discipline of sociology and had powerful effects on the other human sciences: in social science it guided the direction of political science, economics, and psychology; in biology it influenced genetics, eugenics, and psychobiology. It played a critical role in the conception and design of molecular biology.”
“There you have it in a nutshell. The whole problem with modern schooling. It rests on a nest of false premises. People are not little plastic lumps of dough. They are not blank tablets as John Locke said they were, they are not machines as de La Mettrie hoped, not vegetables as Friedrich Froebel, inventor of kindergartens, hypothesized, not organic mechanisms as Wilhelm Wundt taught every psychology department in America at the turn of the century, nor are they repertoires of behaviors as Watson and Skinner wanted. They are not, as the new crop of systems thinkers would have it, mystically harmonious microsystems interlocking with grand macrosystems in a dance of atomic forces. I don’t want to be crazy about this; locked in a lecture hall or a bull session there’s probably no more harm in these theories than reading too many Italian sonnets all at one sitting. But when each of these suppositions is sprung free to serve as a foundation for school experiments, it leads to frightfully oppressive practices.”—John Taylor Gatto
In wishy-washy, mushy “moderate” fashion, the Natrona County School District’s Board of Education in Casper, Wyoming voted this week to keep sexually explicit books in the high school libraries but voted to change a district policy instituting an opt-in for such books.
The board may style it some kind of “great compromise,” but it illustrates society’s fall into postmodernism where all worldviews and lifestyles must be accepted, except for a worldview that holds the Bible as true.
The board unanimously approved changes to Board Policy 6233, which concerns controversial issues, then followed to reject an appeal, by a 6-1 vote, to remove the books “Gender Queer” and “Trans Bodies, Trans Selves” from the school libraries at its Nov. 28 meeting.
Of course, those books have no educational value except for the perverse, but the board needs to coddle the emotionally weak by accepting and affirming aberrant lifestyles.
Like previous meetings, a lot of people spoke on the topic during public comments. It was a very interesting public comment period that even included someone claiming to be a “reverend” advocating for the banning of the Bible from schools.
For the second meeting in a row, more spoke in favor of keeping the depraved books but those wanting the deviant books removed outnumbered them the previous two meetings. Of the 18 speakers on the topic, 16 were for the books and 2 against. At the Nov. 15 meeting, 7 supported the books and 4 opposed. Those opposed to the sexually explicit books outnumbered those supporting them 24-5 on Oct. 10 and 8-6 on Oct. 24.
As I previously reported, stories linked above, those books were formally challenged by parents, but the school district chose not to remove them. Both “Gender Queer” and “Trans Bodies, Trans Selves,” include sexually explicit images and content that is freely available in the high school libraries for minors to see.
Those books were summarized, with photos, by Cowboy State Daily. You can decide for yourself if it’s pornography, but take note the “explicit content” warning by Cowboy State Daily which read: “The following story and photos depict mature subject matter. Cowboy State Daily gently blurred nude images, but in the original books… the nude images are generally uncensored. Read at your own discretion.”
Further illustrations can be found here. Take note, the Cowboy State Daily warning would apply to that link as well.
Even further illustration, 19-year-old Cara Hopkins read from “Trans Bodies, Trans Selves” at the Oct. 10 meeting. Hopkins said the book she was reading from was available to 14-year-olds in NCSD high schools, and the books teach kids about masturbation, sex toys, oral sex and fantasies that “can be responsibly acted out in real life,” the book states, including teacher-student sexual relationships.
The decision to keep those books was announced in September, but transparency (as always) is hard to come by for government. That decision was made by a reconsideration committee of unelected, unaccountable bureaucrats whose salaries are derived from the theft of the citizens (otherwise known as taxation). There was no recorded vote by the Board of Education.
However, a formal appeal of that decision was filed by the Natrona County chapter of Moms for Liberty (M4L) which forced the board to do something it did not want to do, offer opinions. In between, the district lied to M4L in Freedom of Information Act requests and did everything to hide its decision-making process.
The Compromise
“In the first place, God made idiots. That was for practice. Then He made school boards.”—Mark Twain
As stated above, the board approved policy changes but kept the books. The books were generally recognized as having clearly sexually explicit images. Although, most board members either offered no comments or simple-minded ones. Also stated above, the board members don’t like to offer opinions, they just trust the bureaucrats.
An example of a simple-minded comment was board member Rita Walsh who said: “It is our obligation to provide materials for all of our students in our district.” What that means, nobody knows. But I’m sure she felt it was profound.
The policy change adds “learning resources” to the subject of controversial issues. It adds:
“The District seeks to provide library materials that would be of the greatest support to its educational objectives for the minor students in the District. The District’s libraries do not exist to provide universal coverage but instead to provide materials aimed at its pedagogical goals and for the interest, information, and enlightenment of students. Since school libraries are viewed as places for voluntary inquiry, library materials must be treated differently from primary learning resources materials used in the classroom. This policy provides criteria for the selection of library supplementary learning resources, focused on maximizing transparency with parents and community members while meeting student needs to provide supplemental enrichment in their learning with appropriate materials. This policy provides criteria to allow individual parents the option to access the district library opt-in and opt-out procedures. Administrative regulations will be established for the implementation of this policy, including opt-in procedures.”
Several definitions are added:
“Library learning resource materials - are for independent use by students and faculty outside of the District's primary learning material. While primary learning resources and supplementary learning resources are both considered instructional resources, they are not the same, and the terms shall not be used interchangeably.”
“Sexually explicit images - Any picture, photograph, drawings, motion picture films, digital image, or similar visual representation depicting the human sexual acts of masturbation, intercourse, or direct physical stimulation of the genitals.”
“Library Collection - refers to library items for use by school patrons. Library collections may include such items as books, videos, sound recordings, licensed databases, and equipment.”
“Library Circulation - is the function of lending library materials (books, videos, sound recordings, licensed databases, and equipment).”
It adds language regarding avoiding inappropriate material:
“The District recognizes there exists a vast array of materials with educational content. It is the District’s objective to choose material that provides educational content appropriate to students in the District over material that may provide similar content but with elements that contain sexually explicit images.”
It also adds language regarding opportunity for parent review:
“In recognizing that parents hold an essential role in the education of their children and have the right to guide what their children read, each library shall maintain a list of materials onsite or on the school library website that shows what is in circulation for students.”
Several of the public commenters in support of the deviant books argued against both removing the books and against the policy change. They claimed it was censorship and a violation of the First Amendment despite board member Dave Applegate stating at the Nov. 14 meeting that the board received legal advice that “removing books from a high school library does not impinge on First Amendment rights,” and “age-appropriate material and educational suitability are defensible reasons for what books are purchased and managed in school libraries.”
Applegate said prior to the vote on the policy change that the policy is “narrow” and applies to sexually explicit “images” in materials. He said:
“I think you all come in good faith, and I think you all have heartfelt concerns. And I’d like you to read this policy for the words that are actually written and not maybe for some of the things you thought were in it or could be in it.”
It’s hard to come to an agreement on what is pornography, Applegate said, but the books in question at the least are tantamount to R-Rated movies which require parental permission to be shown in the district as is, and an opt-in for such books is a fair compromise.
Applegate voted in favor of keeping the books in question effectively because they should be grandfathered in under the previous policy.
Board member Clark Jensen said he doesn’t “support cancel culture,” but there’s a need for a “balance” between “censorship and a standard of decency.”
Board member Debbie McCullar said “we followed the process,” and effectively those who disagreed with the decision to keep the pornographic books in school libraries should just shut up and trust the “expert” librarians. In McCullar’s world, the taxpayers are servants of the state, and the state is their masters. That will be shown further later on in this piece.
Trustee Kianna Smith said she can see a case on either side that the books in question are not suitable for minors, but they are not objectively pornographic, she claimed. Smith said:
“We can remove books based on community standards, like if they contain profanity, sexuality or obscenity that we don’t believe is age appropriate. But we can’t remove them just because we dislike them or disagree with the content in these books.”
In a strange and confusing manner, Smith voted for the policy change but against rejecting the appeal to remove the books. Her “reasoning” was that while she didn’t want the pornographic books removed, she opposed the opt-in. Yet, she supported adding an opt-in to the policy.
Board member Dana Howie, who professed to have wisdom but showed herself a fool, decried those who wanted the books removed as effectively being bigots. They only want the books removed because of the gay and transgender content, she claimed. She went on to say homosexuality is not a choice citing “the science,” although she didn’t actually cite any evidence. Howie said:
“This is not about sexually explicit books, not really. To me, it’s about LGBTQ in general…. Some of you think it’s a choice. It’s not. We knew this back in the 90s.”
Of course, there is no such thing as a “gay gene,” and it has never been proven that people are born gay. A 2019 study published in the Journal Science shows this. Pulpit and Pen wrote about the study:
“A new clinical study has been published, indicating that no one is biologically ‘born gay.’ This, of course, makes sense. If people were born with genetic coding to practice homosexuality, that genetic code would soon be erased from human DNA because it would not be passed along to subsequent generations (because homosexuality isn’t procreative). Unsurprisingly, science confirms this.”
“The study was recently published by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) journal, Science. Undoing decades of pseudo-science presumption, the study demonstrates that ‘it will be basically impossible to predict one’s sexual activity or orientation just from genetics.’”
“In other words, there is no ‘gay gene.’ It simply does not exist. No one, scientifically speaking, is born gay. You can see the study here.”
“For several decades, the prevalence of homosexuality among siblings and in certain families has led sociologists to presume – without any scientific backing – that homosexuality must, therefore, be genetic. This in-depth study demonstrates that it is rather environmentally-influenced and not genetically-influenced. In other words, homosexuality is the product of nurture, not nature.”
Howie said she doesn’t “want to see anyone in any diverse group treated poorly” after treating those who want the books removed poorly as she accused Christians who actually believe in the Bible as hateful.
By the way, Howie is a retired NCSD teacher. She was molding young minds in the ways of postmodernism and moral relativism. She claims to have knowledge while showing an utter lack of wisdom.
Charles Spurgeon once said:
“Wisdom is the right use of knowledge. To know is not to be wise. Many men know a great deal, and are all the greater fools for it. There is no fool so great a fool as a knowing fool. But to know how to use knowledge is to have wisdom.”
Public Comments
Those supporting the pornographic books remaining decried that the “LGBTQ+ community” has been “marginalized, marginalized, marginalized” as they went on to marginalize those that want the deviant books removed. They accused those parents looking to see the books removed of “manufacturing misinformation” and causing “violence” and compared them to Nazis and Holocaust deniers. Without evidence, one speaker read a list of other books that M4L will want banned.
One NCSD teacher, who was on the reconsideration committee that made the initial decision to keep the pornographic material, said he was “afraid” because the “LGBTQ+ community” is “being targeted” by “radicals” and terrorists.” He invoked the recent shooting at a Colorado gay nightclub as evidence despite the shooter being of the “LGBTQ+ community.”
There were students calling themselves members of the “LGBTQ+ community” who say its an act of abuse if the government schools don’t steal from taxpayers to provide them materials of affirmation for their lifestyle choices.
There were parents who said not providing pornography to minors means there’s a “lack of trustworthy adults,” and children need to be affirmed to be themselves without any standards. One dad said the librarians should be trusted because “they want to teach (kids), love (kids).”
A retired teacher told parents who have standards to remove their kids from the schools because “this is a public school system” that must affirm every lifestyle, except for the Bible-believing worldview that has standards. She will gladly accept stolen money from those folks to fund her salary, but she doesn’t want them to have a say in how their stolen money is used.
One speaker in support of the books admitted one of them does have “pornographic material,” and the other has “sexually explicit material.” But, it’s important for the government schools to promote depraved lifestyles.
A so-called “reverend,” Dee Lundberg, said: “If you so choose to ban those books, I respectfully request that you ban the Bible.”
Titus 1:16 comes to mind: “They profess to know God, but in works they deny Him, being abominable, disobedient, and disqualified for every good work.”
Lundeberg is the “reverend” of the United Church of Christ in Casper. Review the website and you will find that Lundberg is in a lesbian relationship, and the church is all about feelings with Biblical truth nowhere to be found. It is a church coddling sinners to Hell.
Amber Pollock, a lesbian and member of the Casper City Council, said:
“Going forward, I implore you to call out efforts to erase and invalidate perspectives and identities that exist in the world. It is easy to see that the identities and perspective that are being targeted in this particular moment in history are those of the LGBTQ+ community.”
Pollock went on to decry that those who want the books removed of having an “agenda” and not being grassroots. Of course, everyone has an agenda, including Pollock, but it feels good for folks to stand on a pedestal of “nonpartisanship” despite everyone being partisan. Pollock added:
“I find (their) narrative to be extremely concerning. It suggests that the mere existence of LGBTQ+ people is putting people at risk. We can very easily confirm that when it comes to the real threats to children’s’ well being, LGBTQ+ people existing in the world is not one of them. As we continue to see community members use their right to express their opinions in this public platform to stoke fear and sow suspicion about fellow community members, educators, staff and even students, I implore this board to continue to continue to keep your discussions rooted in fact rather than allow this harmful narrative to find a home in your dialogue.”
It should be noted that statistical studies show that the “LGBTQ+ community” has a propensity towards pedophilia. A study published by the National Library of Medicine, maintained by the National Institutes for Health, states that the data “suggests that the resulting proportion of true pedophiles among persons with a homosexual erotic development is greater than that in persons who develop heterosexually.”
The study showed that the number of children abused by heterosexual men is 1 per every 11 adult males while there’s 3 to 5 victims for every gay adult.
Children in government school in general are targeted by teachers at a high rate. Filmmaker Colin Gunn stated in his 2011 documentary IndoctriNation that “nearly 10 percent of public-school students have been targeted with unwanted sexual attention from school staff.” Contrast that with studies finding 4 percent of Catholic priests being abusive. That led to a mass exodus from the church, yet American parents keep sending their kids to the predators in the government schools. I wonder why teachers are so adamant in supporting pornographic materials in schools?
It is interesting to note that Pollock is a member of the Republican Party. So is Jeanette Ward, one of the two speakers on Nov. 28 who spoke in favor of removing the books. What a party, huh?
Ward is a mother of two daughters in the district and was elected in the midterm as the representative for Wyoming’s 57th District. Ward said:
“There are literally millions of books available worldwide. Any library in the world cannot contain all books written.”
“No one from Moms for Liberty Natrona County is advocating banning the Lord of the Rings, the Grapes of Wrath, Harry Potter, the Lord of the Flies or many other of the books mentioned by another commentor. In fact, I read the Lord of the Flies to my children…. To say that Moms for Liberty wants them removed is slander.”
“This is not about banning books. No one is suggesting banning books. The books are and will be available in the marketplace. If parents want their children to access these books, they can be bought in the marketplace with their own money. But they should not be bought with taxpayer money and placed in front of children.”
“Reasonable people everywhere, but especially in Casper, recognize these books as portraying pornography. They should not be in school libraries, just like Hustler and Playboy should not be in our libraries. And every reasonable person everywhere recognizes there is a difference between Hustler, Playboy and the Bible. The Bible does not go into explicit detail, like these books that we’re talking about.”
“To correct another comment, the slaughter in Colorado was carried out by someone who was himself a member of the LGBTQ+ community.”
Referring to the Colorado shooting, shooter Anderson Lee Aldrich is listed as “non-binary” and uses “they/them pronouns” and will be referred as “Mx.,” not “Mr.,” according to court filings. Still, the event has been politicized and weaponized.
Renea Redding, a member of M4L, also spoke. She said:
“We’re not looking to erase a community. What many of us in this community are looking for is to remove sexually explicit content from books in a school library. How does sexual content prepare kids for the future? How do these books make trustworthy adults when you’re looking at a book that contains adult on child sexual acts? Why aren’t parents included in this conversation?”...
“Sexual content or anything related to sex does not belong in schools…. Sexually explicit content does not belong in a school district that is meant to teach academics. It is interesting that all these teachers are ok with sexual content in books, books that show adult on children sexual content, books that talk about sex workers and how to use sexual toys. How can we be ok with this in a school district?”
Sore Loser
During board member updates, McCullar used her time to deliver what can only be described as the screed of a sore loser in her final comments on the board.
During the midterm election, McCullar lost her reelection bid. In fact, the two current board members who sought reelection lost. Two members of M4L won seats, Jennifer Hopkins and Mary Schmidt.
McCullar’s screed was targeted specifically at Schmidt as she called her the “anointed leader and driver of discontent among her minions” and accused her of “theatrics and manipulative language.” McCullar even questioned Schmidt’s faith. McCullar said: “Mary, you tout on social media that you are a Christ follower. But you are a really a hypocrite and a bully.”
But maybe the most concerning is McCullar’s clear contempt for listening to people that she would have locked up in a cage if they didn’t pay their annual ransom to the government school system. She decried that she had to listen to lengthy public comments. McCullar said:
“My observation Mary, is that you and your minions have been spouting misinformation all over the community as if you have some intimate knowledge of this school system, or moreover that you have the answers to cure all the ills of public education. In my opinion your year and a half attending meetings has been a huge distraction and a disservice to our kids. The fact is, you are an activist homeschool mother, and you don’t know, what you don’t know…the voters of Natrona County did a real disservice to the school district because 60% of you stayed home and allowed two homeschool activists to win seats on the board, not the best outcome for our kids.”
Oh, the horrors that families might choose not to send their children to the godless government school system where they are often physically in danger, but more importantly, their eternal souls are in danger of being lost to the postmodern worldview.
McCullar went on to tell the voters and the taxpayers she would have forced to fund this system to just shut up and trust the overpaid bureaucrats.
As for Schmidt, she hasn’t received much of a welcome by the remaining board members who applauded McCullar’s hateful screed. According to a social media post, Schmidt stated she’s reached out to the board’s chairman, Raymond Catellier, who has not responded.
Schmidt did not speak at the Nov. 28 meeting but responded to McCullar in the social media post which stated:
“When you make the choice to run for an elected position you are allowing yourself to be vulnerable to the voters. You work hard at presenting your views, positions on issues, you advertise, and run on your record. To have the voters reject your efforts can be trying….”
“Yes, I am proud to be an ‘activist’ homeschool mom. I will always cherish my ties to the homeschool community. They are some of the most caring, intelligent and honorable people that I have ever met. I will always advocate for the parent and families of the children of this district. I would like to see the district support the family with resources and education when necessary….”
“I have expressed my interest in working with them and putting the election behind us with the current chairman. I have yet to receive a response. Based on the reaction and support of Debbie McCullar by the existing board after her comments last night, I will assume that we are not entering into an amicable environment.”
By Design
“I don’t mean to be inflammatory, but it’s as if government schooling made people dumber, not brighter; made families weaker, not stronger; ruined formal religion with its hard-sell exclusion of God; set the class structure in stone by dividing children into classes and setting them against one another; and has been midwife to an alarming concentration of wealth and power in the hands of a fraction of the national community.”—John Taylor Gatto
Before going further, it should be noted that what is happening in Casper, Wyoming is happening in every government school district across the country. This is by design. It has always been the goal of the central planners who created this godless government school system.
The government schools were created to make compliant, obedient servants of the state and corporations. They have no intention of making critical thinkers. And those who have created this system have said this openly for over a century. I wrote a piece for The Liberty Loft last year using the National Education Association (NEA) in its own words:
So, consider the following a bit of a primer to know (the) worldview based on the NEA in its own words over the decades.”
We’ll start with Paul Haubner, a former NEA specialist, who said: “The schools cannot allow parents to influence the kind of values-education their children receive in school; that is what is wrong with those who say there is a universal system of values. Our goals are incompatible with theirs. We must change their values.”
In 1903, John D. Rockefeller helped fund the NEA and said: “I don’t want a nation of thinkers. I want a nation of workers.”
In the 1930s, honorary NEA president John Dewey wrote the Humanist Manifesto in which he advocated the end of Christianity and the formation of “a new world religion.” At the NEA’s annual meeting in 1934, Willard Givens said that free markets “must be completely destroyed and all of us, including the ‘owners,’ must be subjected to a large degree of social control.” He added that “an equitable distribution of income will be sought” and that “the major function of the school is the social orientation of the individual.” At the 1938 NEA convention, Goodwin Watson said teachers need “to indoctrinate children to overthrow ‘conservative reactionaries.’”
In 1947, the NEA’s Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development yearbook stated: “Far too many people in America, both in and out of education, look upon the elementary school as a place to learn reading, writing and arithmetic.” The NEA Journal that year stated teachers should “teach those attitudes which will result ultimately in the creation of a world citizenship and world government.”
In 1961, the NEA’s Commission on Professional Rights and Responsibilities said members should “gather information about various individuals and groups who criticize or oppose education, and make resumes of their activities.” In its 1967 Journal, the NEA stated it will decide who will “be admitted to the profession, and depending on his behavior and ability whether he should stay in the profession.” In 1968, the NEA’s president Elizabeth Koontz said teachers should “organize, agitate, and strike” and the “NEA has a multi-faceted program already directed toward the urban school problem, embracing every phase, from the Head start Program to sensitivity training for adults — both teachers and parents.” In 1969, the NEA’s publication, Today’s Education, stated “educators will assume a formal responsibility for children when they reach the age of two,” and “schools will become clinics whose purpose is to provide individualized, psychosocial treatment for the student, and teachers must become psychosocial therapists.”
In 1971, NEA member John Lloyd called Saul Alinski’s book “Rules for Radicals,” which was dedicated to Lucifer, the NEA’s “bible” because Alinski “knows that all values are relative.” In 1972, the NEA’s president Catherine Barrett said: “We are the biggest potential political fighting force in this country and we are determined to control the direction of American education.” In the NEA’s Saturday Review of Education in 1973, Gloria Steinem wrote: “By the year 2000 we will, I hope, raise our children to believe in human potential, not God.” In the same edition the NEA president Catherine Barrett wrote: “More than a dispenser of information, the teacher will be a conveyor of values, a philosopher …. We will be agents of change.”
In the 1983-84 edition of Today’s Education, it states: “The National Education Association believes that communications between certified personnel and students must be legally privileged. It urges its affiliates to aid in seeking legislation that provides this privilege and protects both educators and students.”
In 2011, NEA spokesman Diane Schneider told a United Nation’s panel that the family and religion work against the goals of the NEA. She added: “Oral sex, masturbation and orgasms need to be taught in education. The only way to combat heterosexism and gender conformity is comprehensive sex education. Gender identity expression and sexual orientation are a spectrum and those opposed to homosexuality are stuck in a binary box that religion and family create.”
At the 2019 NEA convention, approved resolutions included one stating “NEA vigorously opposes all attacks on the right to choose and stands on the fundamental right to abortion under Roe v. Wade,” one blaming the U.S. government for the “destabilization of Central American countries,” support for gay education starting in kindergarten, support for Black Lives Matter (BLM) and accusing the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency of “human rights violations” and operating “concentration camps,” support for “white fragility” as well as “social, gender, LGBTQIA, and racial justice” training as well as racial discrimination in hiring practices. In contrast, it opposed a resolution stating it would “rededicate itself to the pursuit of increased student learning in every public school in America by putting a renewed emphasis on quality education. NEA will make student learning the priority of the Association.”
Lily García, the 2019 NEA president, said “political action” is “the essence” of the NEA and “we will use our collective power to listen and learn and teach and reach and engage and organize.”
This year, the NEA pledged support for Critical Race Theory, the 1619 Project, BLM, the Zinn Education Project and making George Floyd’s birthday (Oct. 14) a “national day of action to teach lessons about structural racism and oppression.”
It’s a mad world
“But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith; but they will progress no further, for their folly will be manifest to all, as theirs also was.”—2 Timothy 3:1-9
Some of the common refrains of those supporting the pornographic books was that kids need to be prepared for the “real world” where there are members of the “LGBTQ+ community,” and kids need to “be themselves,” whatever that means.
Of course, what they mean is we need to be ourselves so long as we conform or condone the current cultural norms. Do these people affirm me as a Christian? As a Christian, I am commanded to speak truth to a fallen world that desperately hates truth. Would NCSD allow a true pastor to deliver a sermon to the youth, a sermon that preaches the Gospel that includes both fire and brimstone but also the good news of a Savior who died for their sins? Would the worldly supporters try to censor that?
Everyone in that room has books it would not want in the school libraries. I wonder of those in favor of pornography would like The Pink Swastika in the libraries? Here are a few that advocate the dismantling of the government school system and returning education to its proper place, the parents: The School Revolution: A New Answer for Our Broken Education System, Dumbing Us Down-The Hidden Agenda of Compulsory Education and Weapons of Mass Instruction. Would these books last long in the government school libraries? Would they even make the government school library shelves in the first place?
I do accept that the “real world” does include people with many different deviant and sinful lifestyles, most of which have nothing to do with sex. That’s because we live in a fallen world. We’re all sinners. But we don’t train kids to sin.
Ultimately, this debate illustrates how self-centered and entitled our society is. We live in the culture of “me.” It’s an “affirm me, make me feel good” society. This society has no place for God, but the fact that you’re still breathing shows that God’s grace is so strong that He is still giving you time to repent for your sins.
NCSD and its weak board illustrates that education has no place in the government schools. Listening to the students who are so worried that their lifestyles are not fully accepted shows that the system is churning out emotionally weak people. The district, like all government school districts, emphasize “social and emotional” learning over academics. Funny thing is, the more they push “social and emotional” learning, the weaker students are socially and emotionally.
I wrote in one of my pieces about the academic results presented at one of the NCSD board meetings. They’re not good. Yet, we are commanded to respect and revere the “expert” staff who care more about social engineering than academics. We’re told that they “work hard,” and they “really care” about your kids. What a farce. What a lie.
What is this worldview of moral relatively producing? How about a junior research fellow giving a “sermon” at Trinity College stating that Jesus had a “trans body” because His side that was pierced while hanging on the cross was a vagina. And that idiocy was heralded as “profound” and “legitimate.”
It also produces one of the Biden regime’s latest assistant secretaries. Thomas DiLorenzo wrote:
“Corrupt, thieving, psychotic, delusional, sleazy ‘genderfluid’ pervert who boasts of enjoying sex with animals (the four-legged kind) and teaches a ‘Kink 101’ class at a university. And an assistant secretary of energy in the U.S. Department of Energy.”
“Long gone are the days when a job like that would be sabotaged by ‘shocking’ news that the job candidate once smoked a joint in college decades earlier (Something that derailed even a Supreme Court nominee, Judge Douglas Ginsberg, during the Reagan administration).”
I may sound like a broken record, but this book controversy should be expected when you allow the government schools to exist. It sets up the false argument of “competing rights.” There is no such thing unless you allow the government to control every aspect of our lives.
I will say, there is truth to the retired teacher who said “this is a public school system,” although she states it in a perverse and hypocritical manner. She wants anyone who doesn’t like the perversion being promoted in the government schools to take their kids out. I agree. But unlike her, I want her and the NCSD school board and government school districts across the country to stop stealing from us to operate their failing system. Until such time when the theft is stopped and liberty reigns, don’t you dare scold people for voicing their opinions. The bullies are you who would lock us in cages if we don’t pay your ransom.
As long as this system persists, we are left with faux “liberty” arguments, which I will add comes from both sides. In the end, nobody has liberty so long as this system persists.
These books or any curriculum battle are just symptoms. The disease is the government school system. It’s a system that teaches children they are decedents of apes or some other lower life forms. We, as humans, are meaningless in their worldview. We’re accidents in an unguided universe, their worldview states. No wonder immorality is promoted and the one true God and His standard of righteousness is hated. This system produces fools, but they arrogantly call themselves “educated.”
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”—Proverbs 1:7
