Thousands march on Washington to Rage Against the War Machine but media ignores
A Wage Against the War Machine rally was held yesterday in Washington, D.C. as rally goers demand an end to the Ukraine lies
“Of all the enemies to public liberty war is, perhaps, the most to be dreaded because it comprises and develops the germ of every other. War is the parent of armies; from these proceed debts and taxes… known instruments for bringing the many under the domination of the few.… No nation could preserve its freedom in the midst of continual warfare.”—James Madison
As warmongers continue to push us closer to an all out World War over the Russia-Ukraine conflict, thousands showed up to Washington, D.C. on Sunday demanding an end to stealing from the American people to fund the Ukrainian oligarch.
The Rage Against the War Machine rally was held at the Lincoln Memorial and included speakers like former congressmen and presidential candidates Republican Ron Paul and Democrat Tulsi Gabbard to musicians like Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters to “deliver our demands to Warmonger-in-Chief Joe Biden,” the website stated.
Max Blumenthal, an independent journalist and founder of The Grayzone, provided some images from the event on Twitter:
However, you’ll be hard-pressed to find any coverage from the propagandist media. The same narrative pushers who sold us endless lies on covid seamlessly transitioned a year ago to endless lies about Ukraine. They are uninterested in even presenting what those opposed to the lies have to say, as Brian Shilhavy wrote last week for Vaccine Impact regarding millions around the world protesting against their authoritarian governments.
“This latest crisis – America’s part in the showdown between Russia and the Ukraine – has conveniently followed on the heels of a long line of other crises, manufactured or otherwise, which have occurred like clockwork in order to keep Americans distracted, deluded, amused, and insulated from the government’s steady encroachments on our freedoms.”
“And so it continues in its Orwellian fashion.”
“Two years after COVID-19 shifted the world into a state of global authoritarianism, just as the people’s tolerance for heavy-handed mandates seems to have finally worn thin, we are being prepped for the next distraction and the next drain on our economy.”
“Yet policing the globe and waging endless wars abroad isn’t making America – or the rest of the world – any safer, it’s certainly not making America great again, and it’s undeniably digging the US deeper into debt.”
Regarding the Sunday rally, Col. Douglas MacGregor said:
“Why do we have 100,000 troops in Europe, including almost 50,000 troops in Poland? There’s no threat to Europe from Russia. Russia is not interested in invading Europe. The Russians had been told by us that we would not advance the borders of NATO further east. We lied.”
“Remember that the preeminent goal in Washington, for most politicians, is to stay in office and continue to enrich themselves. Who are the donors that keep us in a state of perpetual conflict that says ‘No, no, no, we want to be engaged everywhere because it’s beneficial’? It’s the same people doing these things over and over and over again. It boils down to very simply follow the money.”
“Any normal population with representatives who actually cared about the United States would be addressing these matters. At some point, the American people need to become engaged and put an end to it.”
Gerald Celente, founder of the Trends Journal, was one of the organizers. He said:
“The Ukraine war. The United States, NATO and it’s ‘allies’ ramping up the war to keep it going. The damage that it’s done is incalculable. It’s a whole new world. If we don’t change it, it’s going to be hell on earth….”
“People have no idea of how these things were going, how they started. All they know is the propaganda that they swallow. And now, of course, the greatest fear is they’re ramping this thing up and selling the reality of a nuclear war.”
Will this protest amount to anything? Hopefully, but regardless, it’s important for us to stand up and tell the authoritarians we do not consent. Caitlin Johnstone wrote:
“Of course a few thousand people at one protest is not going to bring peace to our world. Even a few million wouldn’t be enough. But public demonstrations are one of the many ways in which our society can be drawn toward awareness of what’s really going on in our world, what our rulers are really up to, and how much we’ve been lied to all our lives. From there health can follow, because with enough awareness people will cease consenting to things that they’ve come to recognize as being against their interests.”
The Demands
I’ll end with the Rage Against the War Machine’s 10 demands, which can be found on their website linked above. Anyone who values liberty will agree.
The first demand, no more theft of the American people to fund the Ukraine oligarch. The website states:
“The Democrats and Republicans have armed Ukraine with tens of billions of dollars in weapons and military aid. The war has killed tens of thousands, displaced millions, and is pushing us toward a nuclear WW3. Stop funding the war.”
Second, negotiate peace. The website states:
“The US instigated the war in Ukraine with a coup on its democratically-elected government in 2014, and then sabotaged a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine in March. Pursue an immediate ceasefire and diplomacy to end the war.”
Third, stop increasing our prices to fund Ukraine. The website states:
“The war is accelerating inflation and increasing food, gas, and energy prices. The US blew up Russian gas pipelines to Europe, starving them of energy and deindustrializing their countries. End the war and stop increasing prices.”
Fourth, end the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). The website states:
“NATO expansion to Russia's border provoked the war in Ukraine. NATO is a warmongering relic of the Cold War. Disband it like the Warsaw Pact.”
Fifth, deescalate the nuclear war talk. The website states:
“The war in Ukraine has brought us to the edge of WW3 and nuclear war with Russia. US intelligence agencies estimate a one in four chance of nuclear war, which would plunge the world into nuclear winter and kill almost all life on Earth. Adopt a no-first-strike nuclear policy. Drawdown nuclear weapons worldwide.”
Sixth, slash the Pentagon’s budget. The website states:
“Half of the federal discretionary budget goes to Pentagon. The military budget is $857 billion per year, and the Pentagon just failed its fifth straight audit. The Pentagon can only account for 39 percent of its $3.5 trillion in assets. Cut the military budget in half and return those funds to the American people.”
Seventh, abolish the CIA and Military Industrial Complex. The website states:
“The CIA and deep state are an unelected permanent government of intelligence agencies that run our country outside of constitutional and democratic control. They surveille Americans, manipulate the media, curtail free speech, blackmail politicians, infiltrate activist organizations, torture people, overthrow governments, and assassinated President John F. Kennedy. Abolish the CIA and deep state and restore a government of, by, and for the people.”
Eighth, abolish the war empire. The website states:
“War and empire subjugate billions of people around the world to enrich a small group of elites. In just the past two decades, the US has waged and backed wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, Palestine, Yemen, Ukraine, and other countries. End all US wars and regime change. Stop all military aid to other countries. End drone strikes. Close all US military bases abroad. Bring all US troops home. Build a world that guarantees every person freedom from war and empire in place of the collapsing US hegemonic world order.”
Ninth, restore our God-given civil liberties. The website states:
“Restore the constitutional liberties taken from us in the name of war and empire, including freedom of speech, the press, and assembly. End mass surveillance, repeal the Patriot Act, and restore the right to privacy and habeas corpus.”
Tenth, free Julian Assange. The website states:
“The US is charging Julian Assange with espionage and criminalizing our right to publish information that challenges the military-industrial deep state. He is imprisoned in the UK and being extradited to the US. The CIA plotted to assassinate him for exposing US war crimes. Free Julian Assange and all political prisoners.”
