Churchianity and Our Selfish Society
We have a weak, spineless American Corporate Church with a façade of Christianity but one that pushes the false gospel of this world
Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you are who judge, for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things. But we know that the judgment of God is according to truth against those who practice such things. And do you think this, O man, you who judge those practicing such things, and doing the same, that you will escape the judgment of God? Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance? But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, who “will render to each one according to his deeds”: eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality; but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness—indignation and wrath, tribulation and anguish, on every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek; but glory, honor, and peace to everyone who works what is good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For there is no partiality with God.—Romans 2:1-11
The moral decay and cultural rot that is America today is an indictment on the feckless, weak American Corporate Church. It is a self-centered, selfish American Corporate Church that refuses to speak truth to the world and to the political class. The church has failed and continues to fail because they want to be loved by the world rather than follow God’s law.
The Cultural Christianity of the West that views Christianity as a utilitarian tool for worldly comfort and gains rather than truth is why only 4% of Americans hold to a Biblical worldview.

Chuck Baldwin describes it as “Super Bowl Churchianity.” I found this comparison between Churchianity and Christianity to be fairly spot on:
As for Baldwin, he wrote:
“I tell you the truth: We don’t have New Testament Christianity in America today; we have Super Bowl Churchianity.
The entire Western world is collapsing before our very eyes. Climate change superstition has taken Germany, once known as one of the greatest industrial, inventive, ingenious nations on earth, to the precipice of a return to the Middle Ages….
NATO countries, with few exceptions, have seriously failing economies; unbridled immigration from third-world countries has created skyrocketing crime rates; an alarming number of their young people are incapacitated or dead due to the lethal injections of the Covid shots (another superstition); their stupid proxy war in Ukraine has almost depleted their own defensive capabilities and the spiritual and moral fabric of their societies is almost nonexistent.
The United States has a demented demoniac president and commander in chief sitting in the White House. Republicans (including Christians) treat Donald Trump—one of the most unprincipled, dishonest, morally reckless, characterless, narcissistic, arrogant men to ever walk on terrestrial turf—as a savior of humanity. And if that’s not bad enough, the two women closest in power to these two scoundrels, Kamala Harris and Nikki Haley, are no better—or even worse.
In other words, America has NO leadership. NONE! ZILCH! And for those who are too busy or too ignorant to notice, this is positively and without controversy a judgment of Almighty God on our once-great nation. (Isaiah 3:1–4)…
And as America foments war around the world, as it callously murders tens of thousands of innocent people, as it teeters on the brink of financial insolvency, as its cities are turned into war zones, as armies of our nation’s enemies swarm across our borders and as Americans continue to elect and re-elect the scum of the earth to the most powerful positions of government, ‘pastors’ celebrate Super Bowl Churchianity.
In trying to emulate a wicked, sinful world and in endeavoring ‘to lower the Gospel standard to the spirit and taste of the world,’ evangelical pastors have forsaken the New Covenant Gospel and have exposed themselves to be exactly what Adam Clarke said they were: antichrists—antichrists who have traded New Testament Christianity for Super Bowl Churchianity.”
Of course, Baldwin’s reference to the Super Bowl is because the Super Bowl provided a strong example. From the return of the heretical “He Gets Us” ad campaign to blasphemous church services, the American Corporate Church showed what it’s all about.
Wine Press News reported on one such church, that being Crossroads Church of Cincinnati, Ohio which annually puts on over-the-top, replete with smoke machines and a pornographic pop music, displays. They’ve had “skits” where a Bible is getting intimate with a football. They even literally kick Bibles as if they were footballs.
And that church has 40,000 members. That’s what the world wants. And most assuredly, all of those church members most likely view themselves as “good” Christians.
He Gets Us at it Again
“Enough truth in these commercials to entice and enough distortions to deceive. Be discerning brethren.”—Unknown
I saw that posted somewhere with regards to the “He Gets Us” ad campaign during the Super Bowl. Unfortunately, I don’t know who wrote it. But I thought it was a good point.
Of course, the “He Gets Us” campaign shelled out millions of dollars last year as well for the Super Bowl, which I wrote about at the time:
https://sethhancock.substack.com/p/neutered-christianity-on-display
For reference, a 30-second spot for this year’s Super Bowl was $7 million. I’m sure a true, Bible believing Christian could find far better use of that kind of money than selling a fake Jesus to the world, but to each his own, I guess.
This year, the “He Gets Us” campaign had the “foot washing” and “who is my neighbor?” ads.
There have been some response ads created, including a satirical one, that maybe should have been the one’s created for the Super Bowl. That is, if you’re actually trying to spread the truth.
What I wrote about last year’s ads remains true for this year’s ads. The best you can say is there are half-truths. And if it’s a half-truth, it is not truth at all.
What is being sold by this campaign is a fake Jesus, one that appeals to the world. It pushes a cuddly Jesus. The “He Gets Us” campaign is the fruit of the neutered men leading the American Corporate Churches.
https://sethhancock.substack.com/p/biblical-masculinity-vs-worldly-masculinity
Instead of driving people to the foot of the cross through the knowledge that we are all sinners in need of a Savior, the “He Gets Us” campaign tells us to affirm sin.
The real Jesus rebuked the hypocrites. He didn’t affirm their sin.
“Isn’t it something how the American church has portrayed Christ to the world?
We see pictures of Christ, statues of Christ, stained-glass windows of Christ as an effeminate, bloodless weakling hanging on a cross that they have named Jesus.
The pulpits in America have portrayed Jesus as somehow or another walking around with pink booties on spanking sheep on the back side, all the while telling the world that everything is alright.
Nothing could be further from scriptural truth. It’s offensive to say the least. This is a created image of the modern-day heretical church.”
“This false gospel without repentance has destroyed this once blessed country; and instead of telling people to get away from sin, and to condemn sin, instead these evil ministers of Satan will tell you to embrace them, and don’t judge them and cast stones. Those are the words of false converts….
The ‘He Gets Us’ blasphemy is nothing really new: this is the same effeminate, limp-wristed, pacificist hippie that ‘loves’ everybody unconditionally, does not judge them, never gets angry and uses acerbic language, and is a ‘friend of sinners’ that will participate in everything lowbrow and lascivious, because ‘he gets us.’…
Jesus is not your ‘homeboy.’ Jesus does not ‘put his arm’ around the sodomites and affirm their abominations. He does not get tattoos to fit in with the ‘tribe.’”
Much of the criticism of the “He Gets Us” campaign has come from the “right” under generally political theater grounds. There were some CONservatives like Glenn Beck, of The Blaze, and Michael Knowles, of The Daily Wire, attempting to make the “conservative case” for the ads.
I will note that one of the main backers of the “He Gets Us” campaign is the Servant Foundation, which also funds the Alliance Defending Freedom which is considered on the “right.”
While I agree with many of the political criticisms made against the “He Gets Us” campaign, nobody seemed to the get the fundamental problem. And it’s all in the name.
It was very hard to find anyone making the argument from the foundational level. But I did find one video from Melissa Dougherty, someone I had never heard of before. She nails the foundational problem in the title of her video: “He Gets Us... But Do We Get Him?”
Dougherty said:
“It poisons the well so that whenever anybody says anything against what looks like virtuous language, what looks like something that seems loving and inclusive, then you are made to look like the bad guy…. I can't help but think that as I'm reading this type of vocabulary, it's like they want to make anybody that seems to hold to historic Christian beliefs as the bad guys. And if we say anything against what it looks like, like a virtuous campaign, then we're just close-minded, fundamentalist bigots. It's brilliant….
It's like the ‘He Gets Us’ Jesus doesn't require you to change at all but instead just says, ‘You be you.’ Would you pick up your cross to follow him? Would you leave your life of sin behind and give it all up to follow Him, your Lord and God, the One and only One who can truly fulfill you? That is not religious or un-inclusive to say this. This is exactly what Jesus taught. What I see here is creating a Jesus that says, ‘Yes, you can have two masters. You can have Jesus as the one who accepts you and will not try to change you. Yes, you can come sit at the table, just don't change anything about yourself.’ This is not a Jesus that can save you.”
This was one of the main points I made last year. “He Gets Us” is certainly the message you want to push if you want to appeal to the world. But it’s not the message if you want to shine light on our dark world. It is a self-centered message for narcissists.
It’s not about whether or not God gets us. God created us and He knows all things. And we were created for His glory, not ours. So, it’s not about whether He gets us but whether we get Him.
“Upon attending church this Sunday I was greeted with more of the same old same old. Initially I had some hope for the guest speaker as he quoted from the book of Proverbs about wisdom, but it wasn’t long before the entire message turned into a series of encouraging platitudes with no direct relationship with reality. He said, ‘He (God) did it all for you’, meaning that from His creation to His death on a cross and resurrection, it was all done expressly ‘for you’ because He loves you so much. This of course is typical evangelical pop Christian jargon meant to soothe the savage beast and tickle the ears of the marginally saved. It is a half truth which means it is not biblically accurate or true in reality. It is the sudsy social gospel that makes the soul sicker gradually year after year as it is spoon-fed to the sheep. It is like a Christian manufactured vaccine that must be continuously boosted week after week because it never really cures the problem but merely covers it, giving rise to new festering, with another soothing balm and a Band-Aid.
It seems like they are so shallow that they literally cannot think of anything else to talk about except the same old same old. Or else they dare not. The people never get it and most of them are visibly bored. And yet the people are all rather nice. But their lives are made difficult because their metaphysics is screwed up. And every week we have to hear how difficult life is. I don’t mean to be mean, but God did not do it all for you. Again, this is the us centered social gospel.
‘And seeing the multitudes, He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and downcast like sheep without a shepherd.’ (Matt 9:36)
Primarily, God created the world and died on a cross, becoming all in all, for Himself and for His glory. To the social gospel Christian this is viewed as self-centered, but God’s ways are not our ways and his thoughts are far above our thoughts and his goodness and holiness far far exceed our own and who are we to judge God. God is good. God is the definition of good. God does not do ‘the good’ because that would place the good above God and goodness would become God. No, God IS good. God judges his own actions because he is the only one capable of judging Himself. For HE HAS PUT ALL THINGS IN SUBJECTION UNDER HIS FEET. But when He says, ‘All things are put in subjection,’ it is evident that He is excepted who put all things in subjection to Him. And when all things are subjected to Him, then the Son Himself also will be subjected to the One who subjected all things to Him, that God may be all in all. – 1 Corinthians 15:27-28”
More Propaganda from the Super Bowl
There was plenty more propaganda coming from the Super Bowl ads.
Did you know that Travis Kelce, tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, made more pimping the experimental gene therapy bioweapon covid shot than he makes for playing football? He made $20 million to be a Pfizer mouthpiece while he makes $14 million under his KC contract.
And speaking about neutered men, did you see the sequin dress Kelce wore on his way to the Super Bowl?
And also speaking of Pfizer, did you see their little $7 million ad where they pat themselves on the back for their contributions to “science”?
“The commercial is said to have cost the company $7 million for the timeslot, but this pales in comparison to what the company has made just in recent years. By June, 2021, it was estimated that Pfizer was set to earn $33 billion, because of their mRNA Covid vaccines and boosters….
And it’s been 175 years of wickedness, and suppressing the truth, and harming and killing untold numbers of people for profit. Absolutely vile.”
Then there was the Zionist propaganda to promote Israel’s ongoing genocide campaign on the likes of this 6-year-old girl:
Yes, as Zionists spent millions of dollars to portray themselves as victims in Super Bowl ads, which included lies that have long been debunked, Israel was busy bombing innocent Palestinians after telling them to go to the “safe zones” in Rafah. As the Super Bowl was playing, Israel literally told Palestinians to go to these zones to be safe and then bombed them. And they made ads portraying themselves as the victims.
And this genocide is being funded by us, American taxpayers, and supported by the Warvangelicals.

Beyond the Super Bowl
The appeal to the world is the way for Churchianity. It’s here year-round, not just during the Super Bowl.
Take “The Chosen,” a show created by Catholics and produced by Mormons.
I can’t make too many comments on the show itself as I’ve never seen it, but the comments from the actors and creators are beyond concerning. I know people who love “The Chosen.” I’ll just say, be discerning.
For the new season of the show, creator Dallas Jenkins said there will be focus on “the unnamed female disciples of Jesus.” Um, I’m wondering where he’s getting his inspiration from. It’s certainly not the Bible.
Then there’s Jonathan Roumie, the actor who plays Jesus. He recently spoke with the cackling bimbos of “The View.”
There’s much wrong from this interview starting with how much “The View” loves “The Chosen.” But at about the 4:28 mark, we get this from Roumie, who was speaking about his time as a struggling actor:
“The only thing I hadn’t done at that point was the thing that was left to do which was to get on my knees and surrender my entire life and my career. And everything that I had up to that point over to God because there wasn’t anything I realized I could do on my own. After that moment, it was about almost six years ago now, where I just said, ‘Jesus, I surrender myself to You. Take care of everything.’ And that day, I received this incomprehensible financial miracle that changed my life and three months later, I booked ‘The Chosen.’”
It's a Joel Osteen message. If you become a Christian, prosperity will follow.
And “The View” gaggle, they fawned over the “relatable” Jesus that Roumie portrays.
I’ve got news for them, Jesus did come to earth to relate to us. He came to be a sacrifice for us in order for us, if we accept the free gift, to wash away our sin.
“The devotion to this show is real, as the much-hyped fourth season (of seven) is upon us, and the buzz among Catholic influencers, friends, families, parishes, and schools is growing. From this massive commercial enterprise emerges copious merch to be bought, promotional reels entertaining millions, and even a ‘ChosenCon’ extravaganza attended by thousands of fans from around the world….
Indeed, creator Dallas Jenkins promises a ‘very, very emotional’ upcoming season, which is exactly what viewers are craving. If you doubt me, go to the comment section of any of The Chosen’s YouTube videos or Facebook/Instagram posts and see for yourself. Laughing, crying, cry-laughing, weeping, belly laughing, relating, getting chills, emoting, fangirling, and feeling like ‘Jesus is my BFF!’ is the constant and general tenor. The question of truth? Not so much….
If the secular world and the popular culture finds a particular ‘Jesus’ to be perfectly acceptable, non-threatening, and inoffensive—if that ‘Jesus’ gets no pushback from the world that hates the true Christ—then it’s a false Jesus. Think. And pray. We live in dangerous spiritual times, and there is no room for complacency, excuses, and compromise.”
Be Discerning and Speak Truth Always
The American Corporate Church, the Churchianity that it preaches, is of the world. It wants to be loved by the world.
But if you’re following the Bible, following the truth, be ready to be scorned by the world.
“Just as the Old Testament prophets suffered because they went against the crowd in the popular culture because they did not want to believe that they were about to be destroyed because they served Satan instead of God, so too will any watchmen or watchwomen suffer today if they dare to oppose the popular culture and their churches….
But we must not fear the physical death of our physical bodies, as they will perish one day anyway.
We must fear God, and trust our future to him, as he guards our soul.”
We need to be discerning, and we need to have the courage to boldly speak the truth, the full truth. And we need to do it with humility, but with an actual Biblical humility. True humility gives glory to God. False humility gives glory to self.
Bradlee Dean wrote that “bold-hearted men, whom the world calls prideful, arrogant and divisive, are always called so by cowards!”
“Humility is spoken of, as if it consisted in a deep sense of unworthiness, whereas it is consists in no such thing.
If humility consisted in a sense of unworthiness, the devil might be humble, and doubtless are, if this is humility.
Convicted sinners might also be humble, and doubtless are, if this is humility. I scarcely ever in my life, heard a minister speak of humility as if he had any definitely developed idea of what it is.
Humility consists in a willingness to be known and appreciated according to our real character.”—Charles Finney
