GOP Speaker Battle Not Following Script
It gives me a smidge of optimism watching Kevin McCarthy continually fail at becoming Speaker of the House
“No man’s life, liberty or property are safe while the legislature is in session.”—Mark Twain
On yesterday’s Liberty Report, Ron Paul had a little lighthearted banter with his co-host Daniel McAdams.
Paul asked: “Do we have a speaker yet? How can we live without a speaker?”
McAdams responded: “They elected you while you were sleeping”
Paul replied: “Oh, wonderful. Adjourn, I resign.”
Of course, they were referring to the ongoing voting for the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives as spineless, weak, feckless, weasel politician Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-California) continues to fail to achieve enough votes from his party to win. So far, there have been six ballots cast with McCarthy failing to achieve the necessary 218 votes.
And the mainstream is apoplectic over the 20 “far-right” Republicans delaying the “important” work of the government, like stealing more money from us to fund immoral wars and corrupt oligarchs or shutting us down for being “nonessential.”
McCarthy was supposed to be coronated after all, according to the mainstream. That’s how politics and government are supposed to work. Politicians and bureaucrats are the important people. And within the ranks of the important people is a hierarchy, and we don’t want to disturb that hierarchy.
It’s important to just move things along, the mainstream tells us, and they describe this as unprecedented. It should be noted, however, that the 34th Congress (1855-1857) took several months and 133 ballots to choose a Speaker.
Congress is corrupt to the core, and I have absolutely no cause to believe anything will change with this Congress. But this battle does give me just a little bit of optimism. For one, it exposes the fraudulent nature of the Republican Party and the donors and lobbyist who control it. Secondly, it’s nice to see a few political actors simply not following the script.
Ultimately, this Speaker battle is just political theater. It is meaningless to our lives. But if these Congressmen will not follow the script here, maybe they won’t follow the script when it comes to the push for the tyrannical Central Bank Digital Currency or the Digital ID.
McCarthy’s Spineless Character
The fact that McCarthy has been the GOP leader for some time and is the likely next Speaker of the House should tell everyone what a useless party the Republican Party is. My prediction is Democrats will begin missing votes soon lowering the threshold for McCarthy to get in, and he will eventually take the position.
But who is McCarthy?
McCarthy is the Republican “leader” who colluded with then Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-California) to pass the largest spending bill in human history, the CARES Act, in 2020 by a voice vote.
As Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Kentucky) said, there was a “big coverup” to make sure Congressmen didn’t have to have their name associated with this monstrosity. Massie was the lone Congressman to stand up and attempt to get a recorded vote on the heinous, immoral bill that funded lockdown. The ONLY one.
McCarthy, working side-by-side with Pelosi, wanted to fund lockdown, to fund tyranny, and told us that’s what we needed over fear of a cold virus.
Want to know why Republicans underperformed in the 2022 midterms? Maybe the pathetic “Commitment to America” can provide some answers. That’s the useless “plan” without any plans presented by McCarthy. It amounted to empty promises and mindless talking points for their slavish conservative base to regurgitate when they went door-to-door.
Of course, nowhere in the “commitment” is mention of the Constitution. Nowhere in the “commitment” was a recognition that the government has been acting with powers it never was supposed to have. Nowhere did the “commitment” mention the medical tyranny their guy, Donald Trump, gave us with an unconstitutional emergency declaration. Nowhere in the “commitment” did the GOP promise to remove that declaration, which remains in place under Joe Biden. Nowhere in that “commitment” was a plan to stop the death jabs that Trump stole billions of dollars from us to warp speed production of. Nowhere was a “commitment” to stop the globalist plans for a Central Bank Digital Currency.
Crybaby Crenshaw and McCarthy’s Supporters
As McCarthy is attempting to get some of the 20 Republicans to vote for him, his surrogates are attacking them. Sounds like good politics, huh?
Chief among them is Crybaby Crenshaw, otherwise known as globalist shill Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas). He said on Fox News: “We cannot let the terrorists win. That’s basically what’s happening.”
That’s right. If you don’t vote for McCarthy, you’re a “terrorist,” according to Crybaby Crenshaw who also called them “enemies” the previous day.
Matt Brooks, the CEO of the Republican Jewish Coalition, threatened the 20 Republican holdouts calling them “infidels” who will “pay a real price.”
Chris Menahan wrote for Information Liberation:
“This clown (Crybaby Crenshaw) made a name for himself by talking about how we desperately need "civility" in our politics yet now he's labeling his political opponents ‘terrorists’ and domestic ‘enemies.’”
“As Crenshaw himself typifies, the Republican agenda is the Democratic agenda of ten years ago. They support gay marriage, LGBTism, red flag laws, mass immigration, ‘anti-racist’ libtardism, globalism and so on.”
“Their refusal to represent the interests of their base is the reason they botched the midterms. Rather than provide the American people with any concessions following their embarrassing performance, the GOP establishment doubled down by re-nominating McCarthy and Ronna McDaniel to lead the party.”
Justin Amash for Speaker
If the 20 Republican holdouts actually want to show they mean business, they need to really upset the script writers. Let’s get a non-politician in the Speaker of the House.
The Speaker does not have to be a Congressman. It can be any American, so long as they meet the Constitutional requirements regarding age.
It does not have to be Justin Amash, but the former Congressman from Michigan has offered. Amash was the first member of Congress affiliated with the Libertarian Party, which he switched to from Republican. He explained the reasoning to choose him in a lengthy Twitter thread:
Amash was interviewed yesterday. He said:
“This is representative government. For people on the left who talk about democracy all the time, this is how it's supposed to work.”
“I don’t understand why we always expect outcomes to happen instantly, and I see that from people in the media all the time saying ‘This is an outrage, this is chaotic, etc.’”
“We have an oligarchy right now. It’s the leaders of the parties in Congress and it's the president of the United States. Those people are deciding everything.”
What does this Speaker battle mean?
This fight for Speaker means very little for many reasons. Chief among them is the last Congress already determined this year’s spending with the atrocious, immoral $1.7 trillion omnibus bill that continues funding the Ukrainian oligarch, the murder of unborn babies, ongoing medical tyranny, etc.
Along with Tweeting his offer to be Speaker, Amash also Tweeted:
“I believe they’ll be voting for speaker until December 23, 2023, and then they’ll unanimously choose someone and immediately pass a 20,000-page omnibus they didn’t read.”
I don’t really trust anybody in Congress, except for maybe a handful. That includes those in the GOP holding out on McCarthy.
But, it is fun to see this right now. It’s always fun to take the chance to mock and ridicule these arrogant authoritarians who think they’re entitled to certain positions and keep losing.
However, as I’ve written before, those handful of us who desire liberty need to not pay too much attention to what’s going on in Washington, D.C. It’s a cesspool and corrupt to the core.
We need to stop looking for political saviors. I already have a Savior; His name is Jesus Christ.
Politicians cannot solve our problems. When they attempt to solve the problems, they just create more. We need to actually take responsibility for our own lives. Understand, elections have little meaning if the people want to be taken care of.
“Whining, complaining, cursing, lying, laying blame, dependence, voting, and begging for a master to grant you favors, will never be of any use whatsoever in any struggle to gain or retain freedom. Freedom cannot be given, it must be lived, taken, and forever defended. The founding of this country was structured in such a manner so as to present a false picture that rights are somehow tied to government parchment, which is a gross misrepresentation of fact. No rights come from any piece of paper, no rights can be secured by governments; for if that is so, then no rights ever existed in the first place. This is one of the most egregious misconceptions of duped Americans who have been inundated with the notion that some constitution is there to protect their freedom. It is not!”
